John Barrowman - Captain Jack Harkness - tackles the Sweet Lamb Rally Stage with Tiff Needell
John Barrowman – a.k.a. Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who / Torchwood (a proper petrol-head) – jumped at the chance to take on the rally stage in the Prodrive Impreza N2009 under the tutelage of Fifth Gear’s Tiff Needell. Not surprisingly, it took a bit more effort from Tiff than the Stig needs to put in to get a star round a lap of the TG track, but he managed to show John the basics before John put in a time on the Sweet Lamb stage.
2012 Mazda CX-5 - Frankfurt Debut
Mazda has been touting its SKYACTIV Technologies for some time now, and the new 2012 Mazda CX-5 – which Mazda will debut at Frankfurt next month – is the first Mazda to come endowed with a complete raft of SKYACTIV stuff. The clever stuff includes Mazda’s new modular platform that can be used for everything from the Mazda3 upwards, and which is said to give the CX-5 not just car-like handling but proper sporty and stable driving dynamics too. The SKYACTIV technology comes in to play with the engines too on the CX-5, with the new 2.2 litre diesel delivering 173bhp and a remarkably low 120g/km in standard guise.
Nissan has just released this image of its new Townpod concept, which offers insight into how the brand could expand its portfolio of zero-emission vehicles. It will be displayed at the Paris motor show.
Designed to offer zero-emissions mobility to a future generation of home-based, innovative entrepreneurs who are creative and tech-savvy, the Townpod "combines eye-catching design with a spacious and practical interior," Nissan says. "[It's] more than just a car and it's more than just a van – it heralds a new-era of flexible, stylish vehicles that will bring electric-vehicle mobility to the masses."
